Description
These crispy, golden-brown sweet potato waffle fries are a delicious and healthier alternative to regular fries. Perfectly seasoned and easy to make, they’re the ideal snack or side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 medium sweet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or preferred cooking oil)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for extra crispiness)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Wash and peel the sweet potatoes, then slice them into 1/4-inch rounds.
- Use a waffle-cut knife or mandoline slicer to create the crisscross pattern on the sweet potato slices.
- Soak the sweet potato slices in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain and pat the sweet potatoes dry with a paper towel.
- Toss the sweet potato slices with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and cornstarch.
- Arrange the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through until they are golden and crispy.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Soaking the fries before cooking helps achieve a crispier texture.
- If you prefer air-frying, preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking halfway through.
