- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt (to taste)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare fresh or canned tomatoes: peel, deseed, and crush them.
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring to combine.
- Stir in brown sugar and honey until dissolved.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, basil, oregano, and salt.
- Mix in water to adjust consistency; simmer for 20-25 minutes.
- Add balsamic vinegar and Parmesan (optional) in the final 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, cool, and store in an airtight container.
Notes
- For a smoother texture, blend the sauce after simmering using an immersion blender.
- Adjust the sweetness to taste by adding or reducing brown sugar and honey.
